Information for parents

  • Registration and settling in

We want your child to feel happy and safe with us. To make sure that this is the case, our staff will work with you to decide on how to help your child to settle into the setting – we are very flexible.

Prior to starting at pre-school we require:

    1. Completed Application_to_Join  form
    2. Parents and carers to read the information available on our website and to confirm they have reviewed and sign up to our policies

Our policy on the ‘Role of the key person’ and settling-in’ can be viewed on the policies page.

  • Clothing and uniform

Children are expected to wear the pre-school t-shirt and sweatshirt.

We provide protective clothing for the children when they play with messy activities.

We encourage children to gain the skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off, and putting on, outdoor clothes. Clothing that is easy for them to manage will help them do this.

Your registration deposit includes a t-shirt and sweatshirt.
Additional and replacement uniform can be ordered via pre-school staff. Sweatshirts £10 and T-shirts £7

  • Key Person

We believe that children settle best when they have a key person to meet their individual needs

Children can relate to their key person, who will know them and their parents well.

This means that each member of staff has a group of children for whom he/she is particularly responsible. Your child’s key person will be the person who works with you to make sure that the childcare that we provide is right for your child’s particular needs and interests.

See policies page for the ‘role of the key person and settling-in’ policy.

  • What your child needs to bring to pre-school

Keeping them warm, dry and happy

Please label all of your child’s belongings. www.mynametags.com is a great website to order fun long lasting labels. Use our school ID number:85827 at checkout as 24% of every order is donated to our Pre-School.

Each child will need a bag including a full change of clothes – pants, socks, trousers, t-shirt and jumper.

If your child is not toilet trained, you will also need to provide nappies and wipes.

During warm sunny weather you will need to provide a sunhat but we request that you apply sun-cream to your child before they arrive at pre-school.

Please provide your child with a coat, hat and gloves and suitable outdoor shoes when it’s cold.

You will need to provide your child with a named water bottle, healthy snack and a packed lunch (lunch only applies to children going home at 12.55pm).
Ideas for healthy snacks: yoghurt, fruit, fruit bars, dried fruit, cheese and crackers. Please remember that due to allergies we are a NUT FREE setting and request that no foods containing  nuts are brought into pre-school.
