    Encouraging healthy eating

    Our morning snack consists of fruit or vegetables along with raisins and either a cracker or oat cake with dairy free vegan spread. For drinks we provide either water, milk or oat milk. 
    We do a ‘rolling snack’ which means that six children at a time sit at our snack table with an adult and enjoy preparing their food by using plastic knives and chopping boards to spread their butter and cut up their choice of fruit. We encourage conversations about healthy eating, food hygiene, and safety when using knives. This is a social time at which children and adults sit together This encourages learning from peers and adults.

    We ask that each child brings their own water bottle (with their name on) and we encourage them to drink their water on a regular basis. Water is always accessible to the children.
