This week we have been learning about polar animals 🐻❄️🐧🫎 and how they manage to keep warm. We made our own snow for the tuff tray for the animals to explore, using washing up liquid. The children loved making it themselves, it was a real science experiment! We also made polar animal puppets, which was great for practising our cutting skills.
We have also turned our role play corner into a post office this week. The children have loved our post box and enjoyed writing their own letters to Father Christmas. This was a brilliant opportunity for the children to strengthen lots of key skills including mark marking, communication and using their imagination.
We also introduced some phonics to the older children, who will be going to school next year. Stella is our phonics lead and she has been supporting the children to listen to the sounds that make up simple words and how they blend together to form the word.
We have been busy practising our nativity songs and making lots of Christmas crafts to surprise you with at the end of the term! 🎅🎄
